You're Called to Be

Dear Stepping Up to Supervision participant,

If you're like most church leaders, you never imagined that personnel management would become such an important part of your vocation.

You went to seminary and studied theology, Bible, pastoral care, and preaching...if you were lucky, you might have had a course on stewardship...but management--hiring, firing, and motivating staff--wasn't on your radar.

You've taken an important step by registering for our Stepping Up to Supervision course this August. When we're together, you'll learn key principles in supervision, performance management, hiring, and more.

Of course, knowing what to do is one thing...

Implementing your knowledge is quite another.

The Practical Support You Need to Apply Your Learning
to Real-World Situations in Your Congregation

We've seen what a difference hands-on help can make for church leaders learning to master the art of effective management.

After all, what better way to gain skills working with people than by...working with people?

So we started wondering:

What would happen if we created a dedicated coaching cohort for ministers looking for guidance and support on a major management project?

Our Faith+Lead team has seen incredible success with learning communities--groups of ministry colleagues from a variety of contexts coming together to tackle a particular question or challenge, with an experienced coach to guide them.

We thought, What if this is something that could benefit our Stepping Up to Supervision attendees?

Maybe you'd like to...

  • Create an employment policy manual
  • Design job descriptions
  • Write quarterly or annual performance goals with employees
  • Establish a practice of weekly check-ins with team members
  • Form or strengthen a personnel committee
  • Design a progressive disciplinary process
  • Set up an annual performance review system
  • Implement a performance improvement plan for an underperforming staff member
  • Reformat an organization chart

...or any number of staff management tasks that make all the difference in your congregation's culture, community, and effectiveness in ministry.

Will you join us in this experiment to unlock your gifts as a manager, solve a management problem you're wrestling with, and form lasting connections with other pastors and ministers?

What You'll Come Away With

  • A Completed Major Management Project

That employee manual, disciplinary process, regular review rhythm, or hiring system you need to help your staff reach the next level of effectiveness? By the end of this process, it'll be ready to implement for years to come.

  • More Confidence and Capacity to Address Management Challenges

The next time you need to tackle a major management project or challenge, you'll know how to do it--because you've done it once, with hands-on support.

  • Connections and a Community You Can Rely On

Both management and ministry can be lonely. Learning community participants say that one of the most valuable aspects of participation is being connected into a cohort you can rely on both now and in the future.
